Preserving Our Blue Paradise: The New Era of Sustainable Luxury

Environment & Ethics

The beauty of the Mediterranean is legendary, but it is also fragile. As a premier beach destination, SoleLuna Lido recognizes that our business is inextricably linked to the health of the ecosystem. We cannot offer a luxury experience on a polluted coast. Therefore, true luxury today must be sustainable.

The Plastic Problem

The Mediterranean Sea is one of the most visited water bodies in the world, and unfortunately, it is becoming a trap for microplastics. At SoleLuna, we have eliminated all single-use plastics. Our straws are made of pasta or paper, our water is served in glass bottles, and our toiletries are biodegradable. We conduct daily beach cleanups, not just on our property, but extending into the public areas surrounding us. Every piece of plastic removed is a life saved in the ocean.

Posidonia Oceanica: The Lungs of the Sea

Often mistaken for seaweed, Posidonia Oceanica is actually a seagrass endemic to the Mediterranean. It forms vast underwater meadows that act as crucial carbon sinks (sequestering more carbon than the Amazon rainforest per hectare) and nurseries for fish. It also protects the coastline from erosion.

Many beach clubs remove the washed-up leaves (banquettes) from the sand because they deem them "unsightly." We take a different approach. We educate our guests that the presence of Posidonia is a sign of clean water. We leave the banquettes in place during the winter to protect the beach from storms, and only gently rake them in peak summer.

Responsible Sourcing

Our restaurant follows a strict "0 km" philosophy where possible. We work with local fishermen who practice sustainable artisanal fishing methods, avoiding trawling which destroys the seabed. By eating local and seasonal, we reduce the carbon footprint associated with food transport and support the local economy.

Visiting SoleLuna is a pledge to enjoy the world responsibly. We invite you to join us in protecting this blue paradise, ensuring that the sun and moon will continue to shine on a pristine coast for centuries to come.
